Earlier this week, on the heals of Comicon, senior members of The Fictory sat down with long time friends of the studio Damian Eby and Parker Lindstrom. In addition to being super handsome, these guys are tag-team hosts of a podcast called Stick It In Your Ear Hole. In a flurry of editing they took our mumbling and turned it into an actual sequence of coherent sentences, sometimes referred to as a conversation. We discuss every thing from the Fictory Comics, to Fubar, and of course… Atomic Robo: Last Stop. Be sure to LISTEN.

Wow. Baltimore Comic Con peeps are pretty amazing. I spent all day on the floor talking to excited Atomic Robo fans. The response to the trialer was fantastic! Me and the crew are more excited than ever to get back in the studio and start animating again! The only bad thing about being at the show is not being in the studio. But it’s more than worth it to hang out with Fans, recharge our batteries and be reminded who we’re doing this for in first place… the audience!

A lot of people asked us to buy Atomic Robo Comics today, but unfortunately we don’t sell them currently. But that doesn’t mean you can go to the official Atomic Robo Site and get your hot hands on your very own copies of Brian and Scott’s badass bot books.

If you are coming in on Sunday, make sure you buy raffle tickets.  You could win a signed Atomic Robo: Production Poster (the whole crew), Feltingard (a plush ARLS model Helsingard), or an actual hand drawn Run sequence from the short. Here’s a little behind the scenes for some of the Jenkins clip we’ve been posting. Above is a shot of Helaine Crawford, intern from PCA&D (Pennsylvania College of Art and Design), posing over one of the first Story Board sequences she completed with us. When Helaine first joined us, she said she loved storyboarding! So I had her put her money where her mouth was, and damn if we weren’t all impressed. Since the Jenkins scene Helaine has gone on to board other shots for ARLS. Keep an eye out for more of her work, and the work of other crew members, as production continues!

Oh, and Helaine… CONGRATULATIONS!

Here is an update from last week! The Jenkins shot is coming along quite nicely. Now that the key animation is finished, we’ve begun tweening.

The working Fictory Model for Jenkins in ARLS

You’d think with all the love we give to Robo and Helsie that they’re the only characters in the film! Not true, where would Robo be without his trusty action scientists? Specifically Jenkins. Now anyone who’s ever read the Atomic Robo comic knows that Jenkins is one stone cold cucumber. A fact that isn’t lost on us at the Fictory. Jenkins has an important role to play in the upcoming release. And we’ll give you a sneak peak at some Jenkins animation tests on Wednesday! So… see you then!

I just love to gush about the f***king rad shit our people are working on in and outside of the Fictory. Well, look out! Because Jeff McComsey (Fictory Creative Director) has just dropped an gnarled and festering bomb on the world at large. Set in an alternate zombie infested World War II, FUBAR  is McComsey’s latest zombie infested sequential entry. Now, if you’re about to say “oh great, another zombie story”, I humbly suggest that you shut the hell up.

Acting as creator and creative director, McComsey’s managed to assemble an international team of indie all-stars. Including 3 more of the Fictory’s frequent collaborators, Dominic Vivona (Production Director), Steve Becker (Production Artist), and Helaine Crawford (Creative and Animation Assistant). And be sure to look for him at the Baltimore Comicon were you can get your hands on the Graphic Novel, hot off the Alterna Comics presses.
