A ROUGH DIRECTION ::

This Sketch Helped me work out Helsie's Movements

As a Director, time management is the name of the game. Most of my time in studio is spent guiding and overseeing work staffers are generating. One of the effects of this workflow, is that I don’t have as much time as I would like to actually animate. Don’t worry, I still throw down, but most of my time on Atomic Robo: Last Stop is spent compositing and well… directing. So I  relish my sketchbook time. I’ve posted some sketches from very early in the production. They are unfinished illustrations, where I was simply training myself to be more familiar with Robo and Helsie. The idea is to draw the characters in different poses over and over again so when it comes time to animate, the characters, nuances are second nature. Enjoy!

Here I am trying to familiarize myself with Robo's personality

Scale and Weapons: You might call Robo the underdog in this short...

THE STONER ::

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Yet another sweet animation test. This one by Rob Fay, with vocals by Jeff McComsey. Make sure you check out Rob’s Blog, and remember kids… Stay in school and don’t do drugs.

Oh and check out this other piece by Rob! Quick back story, so out of the blue Rob sends me this sweet ass animation of a Robot dancing to some hard rockin’ song I’ve never heard before.  Jump ahead 10 min, I add a one of my favorite tracks (S.E.X.Y.R.O.B.O.T) and cut a way too long music video. Anyway enjoy some of his handy work.

Guidrey (Left) & Andre (Right)

Meet Andre & Guidrey. They are the stars of our upcoming pilot for an animated series. We’ve pulled all kinds of talent from all over the region and put together a awesome creative coalition for this badboy. It is being developed alongside Atomic Robo: Last Stop, but has a completely different look and feel. But don’t worry kids, both projects are still moving along on schedule.
