REFOCUSING ON COMEDY

This past Thursday, Damian Eby and Parker Lindstrom, long time friends of theFictory and Postage, Inc., sat down and recorded some tracks. We were working from a script based on a world we been trying to really dive into, on and off for the past few months. Well we got some great stuff and I look forward to getting some more voices down so we can really get cooking on the animation.

Here at the Fictory, working on comedic animation is very different from more narrative or commercial applications. Sure, at the end of the day, many of the same techniques are used, but the journey to get to a finished project vary dramatically (no pun intended, I swear!). With something like our American Terror: Company Man or our upcoming Atomic Robo short, we begin with a plan. We massage that plan, working out the kinks until it’s as perfect as we can make it. From that point we put on our production hats and get things done. But with comedy it’s a much more organic process. Comedy is all about timing and living in the moment. That’s why we never say we’re going to do anything for sure it’s a constantly changing animal.

I’m excited to see where the comedy carries us. While we wait, be sure to check out Parker and Damian’s podcast STICK IT IN YOUR EARHOLE.
